When making their appointment, many customers ask us how they can prepare for their hair removal service. In today’s post, we’ll review a few tips to help you get the most from your waxing and sugaring services.

Preparing for Your Hair Removal Appointment

Examine Your Skin

Healthy skin is the foundation of effective hair removal. Before your appointment, closely examine the skin in the area that will be waxed or sugared. If you have any birthmarks, moles, or other conditions in the area that will be treated, please inform our aestheticians to ensure proper precautions are taken during your appointment. If you have any skin that is broken open or inflamed, it will need to heal before we can perform any hair removal services.

Dress Appropriately

Although it might seem like a minor detail, it is important to consider what type of clothing you wear to your hair removal appointment. Of course, if you are having facial hair removed, this is not necessarily something you need to worry about. However, if you are having any kind of body waxing completed or hair removed from your bikini area, wearing loose fitting clothing and undergarments will help prevent irritation following your treatment.

Check the Calendar

The timing of your appointment is a very important factor to consider to ensure you get the best results possible. For waxing, your hair must be long enough for the wax to grip it. If it is too short or too long, the service may not be as effective and you could experience more discomfort than usual. We recommend at least two to three weeks between services, and if you are preparing for a special event, sugaring and waxing should be done two to three days beforehand.

Be Careful with Skin Medications

You will be asked whether or not you are currently taking any kind of skin medication as part of your consultation with our aestheticians. This is because there are certain medications that can make your skin more susceptible to injury during hair removal procedures such as waxing. If you are on Accutane or any retinol-based products, we recommend consulting with your dermatologist prior to booking your appointment.
